MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - Devin Ebanks submitted his name for the 2010 NBA Draft on Monday, which most saw to be as imminent as the arrival of pollen following West Virginia's first Final Four in 51 years.
This is nothing to sneeze at, however.

MORGANTOWN - West Virginia University sophomore Devin Ebanks announced Monday that he will make himself available for the National Basketball Association's 2010 draft.
"I have decided to enter my name into the 2010 NBA draft," Ebanks said in a prepared statement from WVU. "I spoke to my mother and the coaching staff, and we have decided that I should explore my options to pursue a dream that I have had since I was a little kid.

MORGANTOWN - There was a scary moment during West Virginia's first full-contact workout of the spring Saturday afternoon, but it didn't come during anything close to a full-contact drill.
No, instead it was during a skeleton passing drill when tailback Noel Devine crossed over the middle and collided with linebacker Anthony Leonard. It was three or four minutes before Devine was helped to his feet and limped gingerly off the field.

MORGANTOWN - As West Virginia's first week of spring drills wind down, Geno Smith is starting get one of those déjà vu feelings, like he's been here before.
"It's pretty much the same as when I was backing up Jarrett [Brown] last year,'' the sophomore quarterback said. "He was getting most of the work and I was just watching, trying to go through the plays and take the mental reps.''

MORGANTOWN - Jeff Casteel’s true worth to the West Virginia football program can’t be measured purely by the statistics his defenses produce.
Sure, West Virginia has had one of the better defenses in the country the last five years, the Mountaineers finishing eighth in scoring defense in 2007, 11th in scoring defense in 2008 and ranking seventh in total defense in 2007 giving up just 301.7 yards per game.

MORGANTOWN – It might be a good idea to keep an eye on Robert Sands this year. Opposing offensive coordinators certainly will be looking out for him.
Last year as a sophomore, West Virginia’s 6-foot-5-inch free safety produced five interceptions, broke up eight passes and made 65 tackles. His performance in the Pitt game when he picked off a pass, broke up three more and was in on seven tackles had pro scouts up in the press box writing furiously in their notebooks.

MORGANTOWN - When Da'Sean Butler went crashing to the Lucas Oil Stadium court in a heap Saturday night, chances are he saw his basketball career flash before his eyes.
All that work - the sweat and toil and commitment it took to get to that point - and less than nine minutes from the end of his college career (and thus the beginning of what he still hopes will be a professional career) it was all placed in jeopardy by a blown left knee.
