“Match the Mountains”, that was Bill Stewart’s challenge to the West Virginia University football team entering their game with the Louisville Cardinals on November 20.
Stewart wanted his team to parallel the beauty, majesty, and strength represented in West Virginia’s geography. To Stewart’s credit, the team answered his challenge and won the final three games on their schedule.
On November 14, Stewart signed a modified contract with WVU, setting in motion athletic director Oliver Luck’s decision to hire Dana Holgorsen.

The day many members of Mountaineer Nation have been waiting for has arrived; Jeff Mullen is out as West Virginia University football’s offensive coordinator.
Mitch Vingle from the Charleston Gazette is reporting that WVU has hired Dana Holgorsen. Holgorsen will be the offensive coordinator at WVU for the 2011 season.
Many fans felt from the beginning that Mullen simply did not have enough experience to warrant his selection as offensive coordinator at WVU.
Add Bill Stewart’s successor to the list of coaches hired at WVU.

The West Virginia University Mountaineers earned a trip to the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando Florida with their win over the Scarlet Knights from Rutgers on Saturday. WVU will face the North Carolina State University Wolfpack.
Head coach Bill Stewart had hoped his Mountaineers could pull out the Big East’s BCS bowl bid with Saturday’s victory. The University of Connecticut defeated the University of South Florida to earn the BCS bowl bid.
Forty-five BCS football programs averaged over 400 yards of offense per game in 2010. WVU averaged 396 yards per game on the season and ended ranked 64 in total offense.

I don't know about you, but in our opinion.....
KUDOS SHOULD GO TO THE BIG EAST CONFERENCE brass for adding Texas Christian University to the conference, starting in 2012.
This is a move aimed at upgrading the football profile of the league and it does so in at least three ways.

With the win over the University of Pittsburgh last Saturday in the “Backyard Brawl” West Virginia University moved to 13-7 against Pitt in the last 20 meetings, and 6-4 over the last ten.
Bill Stewart improved to 2-1 against WVU’s greatest rival with the Mountaineers’ 35-10 victory.
Bill Stewart has rallied his team to three consecutive victories. The most impressive being the victory over Pitt last weekend. It can never be underestimated the amount of goodwill generated within Mountaineer Nation regarding a resounding victory against Pitt.

Random thoughts while wondering if a mime who's getting arrested is told that he has the right to remain silent.

PITT WEEK: We must admit that for some reason, we're having a hard time getting as excited as usual about the Pitt football game.
It's not that our dislike for the kitty cats from Yinzer Yoo is any less than usual, it's just that it would be so much more exciting if WVU and Pitt were playing the de facto Big East football title game with a BCS bowl spot on the line -- which is how it should be.
This is partially the case, actually, because WVU could pretty much knock Pitt out of contention with a win and Pitt pretty much can ice the Big East crown and said BCS bowl bid if they beat the 'Eers in Pittsburgh Friday on national television.

With Saturday’s win, the West Virginia University football team secured their ninth winning season in a row. Bill Stewart’s charges also secured win number 26 for their head coach.
Bill Stewart’s road record improved to 6-8 with the victory.
The WVU offense could only manage three points in the second half against Louisville. The Mountaineer defense won the game, again.

Random thoughts while wondering why psychics don't win all the lotteries.
Now they decide to put things together on offense.
Now they find an inside running game and block up front like the term offensive line for them isn't an oxymoron -- because for most of this year the offensive line hasn't lined up to provide much offense.

With Saturday’s win, the West Virginia University football team became bowl eligible for 2010. Further highlighting the win, the Mountaineer offense scored 37 points.
Bill Stewart’s self-evaluation of the team during the bye week appears to have remedied the scoring woes his team had displayed prior to the win against the University of Cincinnati. Those 37 points represent the fourth highest point total in Stewart’s tenure.
Since Bill Stewart’s first two games as head coach, both 48-point outbursts, the Mountaineer offense had only scored more points one time. That game was earlier this year against the University of Nevada Las Vegas, WVU scored 49.

The first of those final four games is against the University of Cincinnati Bearcats this Saturday. WVU enters the contest with an overall mark of 14-3-1 against the Bearcats.
Two of those three losses have come in the last two years. Bill Stewart has never defeated the team from Cincinnati as head coach of the Mountaineers.
