Big East leadership 1 Year ago Karma: 0
I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors ....

But if I were part of that leadership I would be doing the following in not any particular order ..

Football only conference and still keep The Big East in tact for other sports

Merge with the Mountain West
Merge with Conf USA ..
Cherry Pick teams from other conferences if some sort of merger could not be put together ..for instance Memphis is they could deliver the Liberty Bowl.

Bowl Games

NYC is the center of the Universe and Big East football should have many contacts in that area ... A BIG APPLE BOWL is a must and should be a top priority .. lining up a title sponsor a stadium (heck SU is now playing 3 or 4 home games in the Big Apple) .. make that Bowl a happening event and with the Big East as the annual host..not just another Bowl game but an event ..something totally out of the box .such as a full Stones Concert or Blackeyed peas .. you get the point ..

Leverage BB

IMHO losing Thursday nights is has hurt us more most realize .. three Friday night games and only one Thursday night suck for us ..not sure why our leadership let that happen .. Friday night games are terrible .. Friday night is traditional HS night .. one of the reasons we have been so much in the minds of all of the recent recruits is that they say they have seen us on TV .. they play on Friday nights and thus will not watch us ..Thursday nights was prime time as far as I am concerned and if our leadership did not in some way try to leverage our BB TV schedule in those negotiations is just piss poor leadership..

As for WVU

.. we are really a ship stuck in a dark abyss we are never going to get an invite to the Big Ten and or ACC

They would take Pitt Cuse and or Rutgers over us ..we just do not have anything to offer other than good sports teams .. and it is about Reputation (agree or disagree our fans have a terrible reputation) Education (lower tier) TV audience (small pop base) we all know the drill ..

I am sure I have not covered all the bases that The Big East should be looking at .. ... let me conclude this thread with a prayer ..

God grant me the serenity To accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference

Tranghese and Marinatto are both Providence grads and therefore they are basketball men,add football teams and you add leverage to the football schools and the direction of the conference (leaving PROVIDENCE dangling in the wind). Football schools need to split from basketball schools and add ECU,UCF,ARMY,AND NAVY have a conference championship game . If you had said add Cincy,Louisville, and South Florida a little while back you would have been laught off the board and thats not turned out so bad. Atleast go down swinging instead of sitting on your thumb doing nothing. WVU is the only thing I'm concerned about and without a conference represented in the BCS WVU couldn't make it. New conference new leadership, that include the concerns of all sports not just basketball.Over time the conf. will strengthen TV and bowls take care of themselves. "My 2 cents!"
